Culvert Install & Gravel Driveway in Jackson, Ohio
Road-ditch runoff kept washing out a Jackson driveway entrance until we installed a sized culvert and regraded the drive with a crown and new gravel.
The Challenge
Runoff from the road ditch kept washing out this Jackson homeowner's driveway entrance. Every storm sent water across the drive instead of under it, carrying gravel away and leaving the entrance rough. The rest of the driveway also shed water poorly, so fixing the entrance alone would not have solved the problem.
What We Did
We excavated the driveway entrance and installed a properly sized culvert pipe so ditch water can pass under the drive instead of over it. Then we built the entrance back up with compacted stone to give it a firm base that will not wash out with the next heavy rain.
With the entrance rebuilt, we regraded the whole driveway with a crown so water sheds off to the sides rather than running down the middle. We finished the job by topping the driveway with fresh gravel for a clean, even driving surface.

The Result
The ditch runoff now passes under the driveway through the new culvert, and the crowned surface sheds water to the sides. The homeowner no longer has to deal with washouts at the entrance after every storm.
