The Challenge
A Gallipolis homeowner's existing detached garage had a foundation wall that was cracking and beginning to settle. Water draining toward the garage had been softening the ground along that wall, and the cracks were giving moisture a way in. Without a fix, the settling and cracking would continue, so the wall and the drainage both needed attention.
What We Did
Our crew excavated along the affected foundation wall to expose it and see where the cracking and settling were concentrated. We repaired the cracked and settled section of the wall, then sealed the exterior face to help keep moisture from working back into the foundation.
Because poor drainage was part of the cause, we did not stop at the wall. We backfilled and compacted along the foundation, then corrected the grading around the garage so water flows away from it instead of collecting against the wall where it had been doing damage.

The Result
