The Challenge

The old sidewalk at this Pomeroy home had heaved and cracked, creating a real tripping hazard, and the front steps were crumbling. Patching would not fix a walk that had shifted out of level, and steps in that condition are a safety concern for anyone coming to the door. The homeowner needed the whole entry replaced.

What We Did

Our crew tore out the old sidewalk and steps and hauled the broken concrete away. We then regraded the area and compacted a fresh stone base so the new concrete would have firm, even support instead of the shifting ground that had caused the old walk to heave.

We formed and poured a new sidewalk and a new set of front steps, building the steps with consistent rise heights so they are comfortable and safe to use. Both received a broom finish for traction in wet and icy weather, which matters through a Meigs County winter.
