Foundation Crack Repair & Sealing in Athens, Ohio
A cracked block foundation wall on an existing Athens home was excavated, repaired and sealed, with new drain tile and regrading to keep water off it.
The Challenge
An Athens family had noticed cracks running through one of the concrete block walls of their home's foundation. Cracks like these let moisture work into the wall, and Athens County's clay soil holds water against a foundation for long stretches after rain. Left alone, the cracks would keep letting water in and could widen, so the wall needed attention from the outside.
What We Did
Our crew excavated along the cracked section of the existing block wall to expose the foundation down to the footer. With the wall open, we cleaned the surface and repaired the cracks in the block, restoring a sound face along the affected section of the wall.
Once the repairs were complete, we sealed the exterior of the wall to help keep moisture out. We installed new drain tile in gravel at the base of the wall so water is carried away from the house, then backfilled, compacted and regraded the ground so it slopes away from the foundation.

The Result
