Water & Electric Line Trenching in Gallipolis, Ohio
Water and electric lines needed to reach a new detached shop on a Gallipolis property, so we dug a clean trench and restored the yard afterward.
The Challenge
A Gallipolis property owner needed water and electric run to a new detached shop about 300 feet from the house. That is a long run across a yard, and each line has its own depth requirement. Existing buried utilities also had to be located before any digging started so the work could be done safely.
What We Did
Before we started, we called Ohio 811 to have existing utilities marked. With the marks in place, our crew dug a clean, straight trench across the yard to the new shop, bringing it to the right depth for each line that needed to go in.
Once the lines were in and inspected, we backfilled the trench and compacted it to help prevent settling along the run. Then we smoothed the yard back out so the lawn could recover and the trench line would be hard to spot.
- Called Ohio 811 to mark existing utilities
- Dug a trench to the new detached shop
- Brought the trench to proper depth for each line
- Backfilled and compacted after inspection
- Smoothed and restored the yard
The Result
The new shop now has water and electric service, and the yard between it and the house was restored so you would hardly know we were there. The trench was dug to the right depth and backfilled cleanly after inspection.
