Excavated trench along a home's foundation wall for repair near Jackson, Ohio

The Challenge

A Jackson County family's existing modular home had a foundation wall that was cracking and starting to settle. Modular homes rely on a square, level foundation to keep their sections sitting together properly, so movement in the wall was a concern. Water collecting along that side of the house had been contributing to the problem, so drainage needed to be part of the fix.

What We Did

Our crew excavated along the affected section of the existing foundation wall to expose the cracking and see where it had settled. We repaired the damaged section of the wall, then sealed its exterior face to help keep moisture from working into the foundation again.

To address the water that had been feeding the problem, we backfilled and compacted along the wall and regraded the ground around the home. Surface water now drains away from the foundation instead of collecting along the side of the house.

  • Excavated along the existing foundation wall
  • Repaired the cracked, settling section
  • Sealed the exterior of the wall
  • Backfilled and compacted
  • Regraded so water drains away from the home

The Result

The modular home's foundation wall is repaired and sealed, and the ground around it now drains water away from the house. The family has a foundation in better shape to support the home, with the drainage issue behind the damage corrected.
